One Floral Group is a wholesale flower producer that provides tailored floral solutions to retail customers throughout North America and is one of the fastest growing producers of floral products. Our business has over four million square feet of growing and production space in more than six facilities in three different climate zones. We have the ability to grow and build a variety of products, including potted plants and planters, outdoor lawn and garden plants, and vegetable propagation in the best conditions.
The company is seeking to hire a Operations Manager for our Hillister, Texas facility. Under direction of the VP of Operations, the ideal candidate will oversee direction of operations within the company. This includes the leadership and growth of staff, as well as driving One Floral vision to help ensure that all areas have the support as we require to remain competitive and profitable. The Facility Manager will motivate staff and proactively initiate changes and improvements, through research and the analysis of departmental requirements. This position is very dynamic, with respect to its focus, with the requirement to prioritize constantly. It is expected that this position “leads by example” with respect to motivating staff, and facilitating change.
Education and experience required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Agriculture or similar
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Greenhouse Operations
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage timelines to ensure delivery of objectives
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct personnel, supervisors and administrative staff
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions to those at all levels of the organization
- Ability to adapt positively to a fast paced, challenging and constantly changing work environment
- Demonstrated skills in relationship building and influencing to achieve results
- Strong team player with self-discipline and motivation to work independently
- Strong organizational, planning and strategic execution skills
- Advanced MS Office and ERP Systems skills, experience with MS Navision would be an asset
- Experience in Hydrangea growing a plus
- Growing and Production experience in Annuals and Seasonal Floral crops is a plus
Overall Direction and Management of the facility Timberline- TX
- Direct the overall day to day operations as head of the facility – Timberline, TX.
- Responsible for quality management of the entire personnel in the facility - Timberline TX.
- Overall responsible of execution of all sales programs assigned to the facility – Timberline TX.
- Overall responsible of the quality of crops produced and grown in the facility- Timberline TX
- Responsible to maintain the facility in compliance with Local regulations, AG Department and all other Local and State Institutions.
- Supervise all Capital Project in the facility, actively communicate with VP’s of Capital on all projects.
- Responsible for the organization of all administrative activities of the facility, adhere to company procedures.
Direction, Leadership and Communication
- Manage, schedule and coordinate organizational and departmental operation strategies and activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies, procedures and attainment of operational goals for the facility.
- Review, analyze and prepare internal reports, schedules, records and directives.
- Confer with Managers/Supervisors to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, quality of crops, and any problems encountered.
- Assign and delegate responsibility for specified work and functional activities in the facility.
- Organize resources to ensure effective production and delivery of products.
- Give work direction, resolve problems, prepare schedules, and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
- Evaluate current procedures and practices for accomplishing department and company objectives.
- Develop, Implement and Improve process, procedures and practices.
- Coordinate activities within departments to ensure execution, efficiency and economy.
- Prepare reports and records on department activities for management.
- Provide leadership and guidance for all departmental staff, as well as discipline, when necessary.
- Provide employee coaching, development and training.
- May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, discharge, termination or transfer, following company policies.
